I built this Jatoba media cabinet over the course of the last couple of months. I turned the legs and matched them manually (using calipers and a template I made). The doors are hand-carved. The drawer fronts are inlaid with blue paua shell veneer. The whole thing is finished with oil and wax.

Many thanks. This project was a request from my wife, but I have to say, I had a lot of fun designing it and making it. Actually taught myself sketch-up for this one, but I suspect I’ve already forgotten a lot of that and will have to relearn next time. :)

Great work! I almost missed the inlay until I read your comments. That and the door design really make it stand out!

Fabulous design … and execution. I’m going to save this project for design inspiration.

I also recognize the image on the TV screen. There must be an Apple TV hiding in there somewhere!

Yup! Had to get the screen saver going on there so I didn’t show up in the reflection off the tv. :)

Thanks! I’ve been finding ways to work that braid design into a stuff everywhere I can. I think this is my favorite one so far.
