Well, I wish I had known these pictures turned out so terrible before I delivered the project! I wanted it in the sun because this mahogany just shimmers in the light. The box measures 10×7x6 and is lined with ivory canvas. I curved the bottom of this one instead of the routed profile I’ve done previously and I like it better. The rattles and toys are maple and cherry, finished in organic flax oil and beeswax and the box is finished with ‘seal-a-cell’ and semi-gloss wipe on poly and waxed. My favorite part of making these boxes is the update I get from whomever requested it when they tell me how much the recipient ‘oohs and awwws’. Call me sappy but I find myself getting a little attached to each of them as I’m putting the whole thing together. Sheesh. ;)

Thanks for looking!

They’re all beautiful. I know what you mean when you say you get attached to your projects.

Thanks everyone!
Tony, I do think I’ll use this bottom profile from now on if and when I do this box again.
John, I’m glad I’m not the only one who gets attached to wood. LOL

Kim, your write-ups are always fun to read. It looks like you have found a nice niche with this line of boxes. I like the way your work keeps evolving in complexity and form. Your attachment to your projects shows that you are doing nice work. Thanks for sharing your projects with us.
