KOOKABURRA CARVINGS

Had a request to try carving a pair of Kookaburras (native Australian bird) and putting up with pain from Arthritis in the wrist this is the result. I used the soft wood JELUTONG, shaping on the bandsaw and carved with the faithful Dremel plus a bit of hand carving for the fiddly bits. The paint work on the smaller bird needs a bit of work, i.e. the bill is a bit dark and needs a few dabs of white but otherwise that is the finished product.

The purchaser has watched the progress and is real happy and should part with a reasonable cheque on Sunday.

I should stick to turning and selling pens at the Market but can’t resist a request when asked.

Cheers.

Very cool project Bob. You’ve created a piece of art to be proud of. Pens are all well and good, but is good to step up to the plate when called upon to a challenge. Well done.

You will have to thank Crowie for this reply, it was his post that prompted me add this.
Goes on for a bit but I think you get my drift.
Our O/S members may appreciate it as well.

Good job!
