Another vase made using a couple belt sanders, a drill and some sandpaper. The vase is made from a piece of red oak shaped on two different kinds of belt sanders. One a 6”x48” w/ 9” disc I roll around the shop and the other a hand held model with a unique set of wheels that was attached to a fixture making it into a bench top/stationary job site sander. The roses are made from a polymer modeling material I fiddle with called Fimo. It’s shaped then fired in a typical kitchen oven at around 200°.

Comments and criticisms welcomed. Questions answered if I can.
Thanks for looking

You are multi-talented Darrell! The vase is beautiful … as are your roses! I’m playing with polymer clay as well. Fun, isn’t it?!

Thank you both.
Yes Elaine, I do like playing with Fimo. I’m not has good at making things with it as others. I see some really impressive art made with it by people I follow on Twitter. I’m trying to make some tropical fish with it for a painting I’m working on.
I also need to make another rose for a gift. No vase. Typically when I’ve made the roses I place them inside a glass tube. I get the glass tubes from places that sell them with cigars in them. Here’s an example of the glass tube with rose inside.

I love your roses!! So it’s not wood … but it’s still lots of fun :)
