A plaque I made for my step-daughter – growing up she often commented “when I have kids I will never say (you can fill in the blank!). But now – she has a different perspective on things!

I love the message, a LOT of people can say that.

Wondering if all Moms would like that around on Mother’s day though.

Great post.

I often open my mouth and many “un-towards” regurgitate from it… so I can relate (having filled in the blanks) with your SD’s feeling.

Nevertheless that is some neat scrolling and I can appreciate the effort put into it!

I assume this plaque was done with a CNC machine. It is curious that the letter font has a gap in the lower case “o” but not in capital O’s or other lower case letters with curving bases.

Phil, this was done with a scroll saw. The cuts are completely thru a 1/2” piece of oak. Anywhere there is an “island” (lower case o for instance), you must create a “bridge” so the center doesn’t fall out. All of this is created within Inkscape, including modifying the font to include “bridges” where necessary. Thanks for looking!

This is hilarious! I think that it rings so true! And it’s quite scary at times when it happens. Like she’s been hiding in the storage rooms of my brain just waiting for the day she can pop out and say things. Well, I’m sure that my mum will be happy to know that I’ve taken to heart some of what she’s been nagging at me for years for!
