First pen - sapele and ebony

I am not really a pen turner but thought I’d give it a try. This is actually a pencil, not a pen. Made from sapele and ebony. Finish is shellac topped off with paste wax.

-- The optimist says "the glass is half full". The pessimist says "the glass is half empty". The engineer says "the glass is twice as big as it needs to be"

I like it. Certainly is a change of scale compared to the dining room set.

yeah after that dining room set this was a nice way to decompress and recharge the batteries for the “next” big build! nice pen.

Thanks gents.

The motivation for this was my youngest son who suddenly took an interest in making pens after we went to PSI for their open house in the fall. I figured I’d better make at least one before I try to teach him how to make them!

Hopefully your son will catch the woodworking bug. I was in my late 20’s before I started woodworking. Fortunately, I lived closed enough to my dad that I could learn the basics from him before we moved too far away.
