This box is made with Tiger Maple and Paduk. It measures 13"x 9'x 3 5/8" h. Finished with four coats of spray Lacquer and then buffed with Beal buffing system.
Interesting box. Between the non square corners, and the wild grain it looks like it's moving. Does it have a bottom? In the open pic what is where the bottom should be it looks just like the counter top. The shape seems Egyptian to me, almost like the base of a pyramid. That Paduk on the front is a nice contrast, and the shape is interesting. Makes for a nice resting spot for the finger catch.
Maestro, this is a great study in contrasting woods. I like your novel design and construction. The finish looks great. It reminds me of one I built a few years ago. . You might be interested in the carved ends and the inset front and back. The inset on the front of your box is eye-catching. Thanks for sharing your work with us.
