To fellow scroll saw artists, here is a delicate pattern fro Fiona Kingdon. I cut this from 1/2” walnut and it is small (8.5” x 7”). I always debate whether to have no backer board, natural backer board, or painted backer board…what do you think? Thanks for looking!

Really a nice job. Yours is a tough question,, I always struggle with it also. I love her art. Have several of her patterns.

depends on how your gonna display it,id say no backer or natural,dont like the painted at all.nice work.

I think the painted works well with the dragonflies. Dragonflies are naturally vibrant. The painted backer with the natural wood provides a kind of cool reverse color scheme.

In order: painted back, no back. Natural is my last choice.

A twist would be to use colored glass as a way to combine the first 2 options…
