I was inspired ever since I saw Jimmy Diresta build those beautiful walnut floating nightstands. I’m a fan of Mahogany-Sapele Mahogany to be specific (I’m also a fan of Diresta). We needed a little more room on our nightstands than what Jimmy made so I added a back and floating shelf set in a rabbet on the bottom and reinforced with dowels. I used dowels on the entire outer case. And the vacuum cleaner fits underneath them. I finished them in 4 coats of wipe on polyurethane. The drawers are made with 1/2” plywood trimmed out in mahogany. They really fit in the room nicely. This is the first piece of fine furniture I’ve attempted and we are pleased.
