I have a chunk of unknown wood that is spalted and I tried making a few rings with it. I wasn’t able to cut thin strips and wrap it like my other rings because it would just crumble.

The first pic is the spalted wood over a canarywood bentwood section. I tried to dye the spalted part with black dye, but it didn’t work the way I expected. It came out looking like stone. So far this is my favorite ring design.

Second pic is the first one of this style I made, and it is just dyed and drilled. I don’t expect this one to last as long as the others that have a bentwood center.

Third pic is the same spalted wood with an African Mahogany center.

The fourth ring is just canarywood.

The fifth ring is also canarywood and I dyed sawdust red for the inlays.

The last ring has a bloodwood center with birds eye maple outside and has red sawdust mixed with copper filings for an inlay.

Those are all very beautiful and it appears that your “learning” efforts are paying off!
