I made a two crosses a few weeks back for my friends’ housewarming gifts, but they were just trials for this project. My daughter Meadow is in the second grade, and just made her first communion today. To celebrate and commemorate the day, I made her this cross to hang above her bed.
Made of walnut and maple plywood, the cutting was done on the bandsaw and I laser etched the lettering and prayer. It is finished with several coats of spray poly.
The last picture is of my little girl and Father Mike, who gave a really great homily today at mass.
Thanks for looking, I’d love to stay and chat but it’s time to cleanup the party!

Tooch, nice work. Your expertise using a CNC machine really shines in a project like this. I like your choice of type faces and shape. Sweet daughter. I have a grandson in second grade as well. It is a fun age.

What a beautiful Cross Mike! I’m sure this will remain in the family and become a heirloom. I really like the way the lighter ply contrast the darker walnut. And your letter is magnificent! Well done!
