Project Information

My latest shop furniture addition. I'm not sure why I always choose to practice hand cut joinery on shop projects when I don't generally do that for in the house furniture. Perhaps because I always mess up! Anyways, I recently got these small parts bins from Home Depot on sale and thought I'd build a little cabinet for them. This was a budget build and I didn't want to buy any plywood, so I made it out of walnut with oak back slats. I think it turned out nice. Nice enough for the shop anyway.

Matthew,
A pretty flash "Small Parts Organiser" but then I saw yor clamps and templates and then read about your miter saw, then continuing on looking at your projects I have determined you are a very clever worker.

Rob, thanks so much for those kind words! I don't know about clever but certainly determined. I set my sights high in an effort to challenge myself.
Lots of disappointments but that's how we grow.

Nice job and functional for sure but when I saw this.

"This was a budget build and I didn't want to buy any plywood, so I made it out of walnut with oak back slats."

I thought, "where does this guy live!" Walnut where I live is about $12 a bd ft. Plywood is about $1 a bd ft.

How'd you get by with a Walnut budget build?

Haha well, I was lucky enough to purchase my walnut for $2 a bf and have had it for quite some time, so the sting of bulk purchase has passed and I use walnut willy nilly as if it grows on trees :)
