The acquisition on a Grizzly mini metal lathe has increased possibilities for new projects.

After making the brass bits, the tiger maple handle stained with red dye and zebrawood on the larger head, were easy.

The red handled one will be a chisel hammer and the red one a tapping hammer for my wooden planes.

A lot of fun to make.

You turned the brass too? Awesome!

I like that tapping hammer a LOT more than I like the looks of mine. For chisels I just use a tube of brass with rounded over edges to eliminate a pinch point, been using it so long a handled hammer would get either the chisel, or me injured.

Looks like the start of a small woodworking tool company to me.

Thanks for posting.

Mot, yes, turned the brass also, then shined it up to 4000 grit.

Nothing beats brass heads on shop hammers. Those are a couple of fine looking hammers (or mallets depending on your definition). Either way, nice work!!!
