This pine box was given to my late wife Phyllis, and had her initials carved into the top in large letters. After a divorce (and marrying me) the initials were no longer correct, so she asked me to shave off the top and carve a new design. The new design by Wayne Barton features oak leaves and a simple chip carved center. White Pine – 7-1/4” x 9-1/2”

Very nice carving Phil and a nice memory. It appears to be old growth pine, sought after by woodcarvers here in Norway, but unfortunately very hard to find these days since most of it was cut down for farm fencing by the late 1800s.

Very COOL… and you can’t see the Old initials at all!! LOL

Great job! First time I have heard of someone resurfacing a box top, replacing it with a Ne Carving!

Fantastic work!!

wow, beautiful work Phil! ”...just a simple carving” he implies… Very nice work, terrific talent.

The original letters are gone, but some of the stain spread thru the wood in the lower right area. I didn’t want to cut deep enough to remove that – it may go all the way thru.
