I built this workbench out of silver maple and cherry. I took a class with Mark over at plate11 woodworking down near Ozark MO (by Springfield). I learned a lot and had a great time taking the class. It just worked out that my dad had the same week off, so we both made benches at the same time. It was a ton of work, probably 50+ hours in total even with Mark’s help and class prep. I’m very happy with how it turned out and had a great Dad-son experience.
Every surface has a hand planed finish, which was definitely a first for me. I did have to sand a little of the inside curve of the leg chop as I couldn’t get my spokeshaves to speak to me on that part. Vices have already been a godsend, even in just the week since I got it in my shop.

The really fun part is going to be loading his bench and taking it from Missouri to Texas this summer. I’m thinking its going to go down in pieces.
