My latest dulcimers, curly maple hummingbird style, quilted maple tear drop, and paradox walnut hummingbird. The two hummingbird style have a galax back that brings the back off the lap making a more dynamic tone. .the paradox walnut is a California hybrid that’s half English walnut half black walnut

Can you elaborate a little on the way the “galax” backs are done?

Basically I just glue small pieces of wood in this case curly maple and then attach another back so it will bring the dulcimer up off your lap allowing it not to be muffled thus provides a more dynamic tone. And it looks cool.

Superb!! ‘Paradox walnut’—cool. Glad we’re making some great strides in dendrology. There are some great things going on with Chestnuts now days also. We have generations that are doing really well. Your work is superb…true works of art. I’d love to hear one of those being played. You’ve been given the double sided card my friend. Talent.
