This is my first ever LJ post and my first ever furniture project. This coffee table has been in the works for roughly 2-1/2 years. When I first started it, I didn’t know the first thing about woodworking. I just had a rough sketch and a desire to build something I needed. With a ton of help from my dad (he deserves at least as much credit as I do), some YouTube videos, and many hours on LJ I was able to build something I’m proud of.

The table is made completely out of red oak using biscuit joints for the table top and dowels for the aprons and legs. I finished it with Watco Danish Oil before applying several coats of Arm-R-Seal Semi Gloss. Overall dimensions are 47ā€ x 27ā€ x 18ā€.

This project was a great learning experience, and I caught the woodworking bug in the process. Iā€™m looking forward to future projects and being a little more involved on LJ.

Welcome to LJ. So you are infected with the woodworking bug? This is the right place to get treatment for it.

Good looking craftsman style coffee table. Keep up the good work.

Very nicely crafted. I like the warmth of the red oak. Congrats on your first project post and I hope to see many more.

My First project was a foot stool which took a few weeks to make. I actually still have it 30 some years later in my office next to me as i write. What you have made will be special to you the rest of your life. It is beautiful my friend.

Have your say...
