My wife kept telling me she needed a place to put her phone while charging while out in the shop.
So I threw is together for her.
My wife is easy to please.

Nice project!! Do you have any pics of the process? Did you use SketchUp? I would like to make some jokes of your explanation, but I guess I’ll stay away from that ‘o’

In my shop, the best place for a cell phone is in some other part of the house, turned off.

So, I have a few questions, did you use the same species wood for the face of your lamination as the substrate? Did you alternate the grain for strength or run it all the same for flexibility? What dimension did you rough cut the laminations to, and what were the final dimensions of the finished product? How did you do the glue up? Clamps, a press, weights or something else? How did you square it up? Did you run a dedicated circuit for the charger or tap off an existing one. What amp circuit are you using? 15, 20, or 30? Is it GFCI protected? How did you get the phone to stick to the base? Sorry for all the questions, my wife wants me to build her one and she insisted I ask you about it. She says I tend to over think and complicate my projects. Nice job by the way.

While everyone is tip toeing around it, I’ll just ask, How much money did this cost you?

First, I apologize for any offense. A glance at the picture looked as if you’d simply screwed a piece 1/2 plywood to the 2×4 and called it good then posted as a lark. I figured I’d play along WITH you. My comments were never intended to troll. Most of my home built shop fixtures are like yours, simple< quick, and done. Again, I apologize for any offense, happy wood working to you and yours.

If you don’t mine me asking. And please don’t get trolly on me. I’m just asking a question. How did you stick the phone to the plywood?
