This was my most recent project and is made from Cherry. I saw this in Fine Woodworking Magazine in 2015, I think. It was done by Gregory Paolini. There is a surprising amount of space in this piece, I built it to replace a very dated 1970’s china cabinet that had the upper and lower sections and this holds everything that the other did. I own a domino but I thought this deserved all mortise and tenon construction and it is finished with General Finishes Arm-R-Seal (satin) The drawer and door pulls are attached with the pyramid head screws in each of the four corners. From what I have seen this is one of the ways they did this during that period of time, but I could be wrong. I should take some new pictures because the cherry already has some real nice color since I brought it in the house in September.

REALLY NICE sideboard!!! You can’t wrong with cherry (BTW – excellent board selection) and Craftsman style.

What’s next? A mirror or picture frame to go above it?

We haven’t really decided what to put above it. The kitchen dining area is sort of in transition/refresh mode right know. We did pick up a picture in Yellowstone last fall that may end up there.

That is really fantastic work, wow. How did you apply the arm-r-seal?

The two end panels are Cherry ply. I had this scrap section from a previous project that had some really nice book match pattern to it so I decided to us it on the ends. It doesn’t have that ply look to it at all. The whole sheet was kind of a 1 in a million piece

Chet,
I’m building the exact same project 8^), it’s on hold until I can make room for finishing.
There were several things about the design I had to modify, like the floors of the cabinets (wood expansion).

The cherry looks great, nice selection job on those boards!
