Finished a combination cutting board/serving tray today. Built this project out of bird’s eye maple, cherry, mahogany and black walnut laminated into an overall size of 13” W x 26” L x 3/4” D. The cutting board side has a 3/8” D x 1/2” W groove around the surface to keep any juices contained on the board. I cut two inch deep grooves into each end of the board to hold the stub tenons for the walnut handles and inserted dowls for additional support and contrast.
For a finish I applied three coats of Butcher block oil, sanding between each coat, followed by two coats of beeswax and orange oil and a final coat of paste wax.

Love the contrast in the different woods. The pins add a pretty cool pattern too.
