So I saw a bunch of flip top carts and wanted to try one. I found (and purchased) the plans for this cart here
The plans cost me $5 and included step by step instructions and a cut list…a good deal, IMO.
I used a forstner bit and recessed neodymium magnets to hold the power strip access cover in place but recessed them a bit too much. Turns out that stacking a few small washers in with the magnets solved the problem just fine :)
My only complaint is the casters that I used; they are rated for roughly triple the weight of the table but they don’t pivot worth a darn. Idk if that will cause me to replace them or just cuss more…probably both.
Once again, I got these plans online at Fisher’s Shop. I mention it again bc I am only at the ‘assembly’ stage of wood working so, without plans like these, I wouldn’t be able to make stuff like this.
All in all a great project and it also marks my first project that came out (functionally) perfect…that is to say that, while there are blemishes and small mistakes, the thing does what it’s supposed to do and it does it HOW it’s supposed to do it. I call that a win!
These plans use a full sheet of 3/4”, a quarter sheet of 1/2”, and about 8’ of 2X4”

Very nice. Are you going to paint or finish the wood? Where did you get your casters?

Thanks, Wayne. The casters are from HD – the Everbilt 3” swivel caster, rated 175lbs….I have my suspicions about that.
As for a finish, I think I will paint the cart white, hopefully it will look nice.

Good work. The paint is a good idea. I paint all my shop furniture and it gives a cohesive appearance for a better work environment.

I have made a couple of these, but very much like the way the stops are done on yours, also the running of electrical. Am a fan of earth magnets as well as industrial velcro. Both better than duct tape. Good job I love picking up new ideas such as this.

Great job! I recently stumbled across Fisher’s Shop youtube channel and love it! I downloaded these plans last week as well, and my cart is almost complete. I like that his plans are cheap and very clear to understand. He is very organized and easy to watch.
Nice job on the cart! Im glad it was a success for you! Thanks for sharing.

Kiefer, Thanks for the kind words. I agree, the stand was very well thought but I want to remind everyone that the idea was purely from Fisher's Shop (and the plans were very comprehensive as well, complete with cut list and illustrations). I saw your video on the pattern guide for your spindle sander…great idea!
