Bird house from weathered fir decking

This birdhouse was built in 2015 and then given away. Last fall I finally got pictures of the finished project.

The birdhouse was built from weathered fir salvaged from an old deck. The front, back, floor, and frame are from the fir cut from the center of the boards. My wife did the painting.

The finished birdhouse was given to the owners of the deck boards and was a big hit.

A build blog with construction photos is here .

Charming Steve. I really like the way you painted the flowers on the from and also the door. Very cheery and whimsical with the curved walls. Great build!

Thanks everyone! This was one of those projects that was fun from start to finish.

Mike – Thanks for the painting comments. I’ll make sure my wife sees them.

Thanks everyone!

Tony – I don’t recommend bending dry (brittle) fir unless it is VERY thin and VERY wet and VERY hot!

That said, the corner trim did turn out well.
