Ring Box for my Favorite Daughter

My prospective son-in-law gave me no less than 4 days notice to request a ring box for his grand proposal to my favorite daughter. Luckily for him she said yes, so it was all worthwhile.

I made a few prototypes, lot’s of semi-good ideas but they’re thinking about getting married in the mountains of central Washington so this design seemed the most appropriate.

The woods are: ash, walnut and mesquite. I lined the pocket for the ring with leather which looks (and smells) much better than a round hole made by a forstner bit. The lid swings on a short dowel rod behind the snow.

Very elegant and organic at the same time, if that makes any sense.

Nice little box, and a great story to go with it.

Absolutely gorgeous – wonderful choice and use of woods.

He’s a lucky man to have you as a prospective father-in-law ;)

Great box and the dowel looks like a full moon rising.

I worked in a jewelry store for ten years and we always had customers asking if we had any different boxes to make their proposal unique – you really came through for your future son-in-law.

Thanks for sharing.
