Project Information

Hanging out in the shop and was looking at an old Chisel, thinking about throwing it away as it was very dull when I thought maybe a smaller Lathe tool for turning Pens? A little grinding to smooth it and a rough shape it was then tempered, only the end 3" - 4 " then turned a quick handle from a chunk of Mahogany that was close to the right size.
Actually cuts real good, next time I turn a pen will determine final shape. Left enough file marks to show it's humble origins. Great way to kill a cold afternoon, know the Wife has requested another small Walnut End Table so no time to play with the Lathe:)

I have occasionally found a use for my woodcarving tools while doing lathe work, but both are fairly specialized. Looks like you found a good use for an otherwise unused chisel.
