As I posted in a forum I’ve been asked to make a wedding ring for my best friend. I’ve never tried a ring or anything like it so I’m doing some trial and error before attempting the real ring. Here is number one, which my 3 year old has confiscated…

Please let me know your thoughts and critiques

Much better than my first attempts. Looking awesome. Couple of tips you may already know: if you’re layering wood, layer them in alternating grain patterns, which will make for a stronger ring. Use a couple of layers of CA glue for a final finish, both inside and out. Gives a nice polish surface, and strengthens the ring. Personal choice – i never make the inside as smooth as the surface of the ring, makes them slippery when worn in the heat.

Hey guys thanks for the responses! This one was sanded to 800 grit then I used EEE and shellawax. I plan to do as suggested and put several good coats of CA on the real ring but didn’t want to spend the extra time on this one since my sizing was way off (planned it right executed wrong haha).

I love to use the thin fast dry CA for my first couple of coats.
