White Oak bed for one of the best 911 dispatchers I’ve ever known.

This bed was made for the best dispatcher I’ve ever known in 27 years of the fire service. She knew just what needed to be done, what units needed to go on any call and she made it happen. I was happy to make this her for her to enjoy in retirement. She had a design idea in mind of the legs and the color she wanted. From there I designed the rest. She didn’t want a headboard with posts, so this was made kinda like a table with breadboard ends. The rails are 10 3/4” wide and conceal the box spring fully. It is white oak with general finishes gel stain, which was very easy to use. Unfortunately the weather is not conducive for me to spray right now, so I had to brush on the polycrylic that I used. I like it because it dries very fast.
Terry was very happy. I could have done better. It wasn’t til I applied finish that I noticed some planer tear out, but I was minor and wasn’t really noticeable.

Good looking bed. And, a great gesture for a great co-worker.

Thanks guys.
Ivan, I still haven’t made my Croatian chest yet, but I did rough dimension some quartersawn white oak for the project. Just need some time. I have pictures of your chest to copy from.

Thanks Bob andJeff. The snow would definitely be welcome Jeff. I’ve had enough of this ice.

It’s a fine looking bed for sure! Lucky friend that one…
