My wife is an avid home chef and I wanted to make her something to keep her recipe cards in for her birthday. I’ve been practicing my dovetails and figured this would be a good chance to put those to use on some beautiful curly cherry boards I had laying around.

I’m really excited to see how the cherry ages, I think it’s going to look amazing in a couple months.

That’s a nice little box, and it should age beautifully.

RB, this has a great look. The wood is beautiful and should get a beautiful patina with time. Perhaps it would serve its purpose better if it were more shallow. If it were hinged with a deeper lid that would do it. I really like the look of the chamfered lid and dovetailed sides. Nice job. Keep boxing and keep posting.

Nice work on the dovetails and sweet looking lid. That cherry will look better and better overtime. I made a shaker wall clock years ago with cherry and its amazing to watch it darken…antique’s itself in just a few years.
