Project Information

Just over 3" in length. Hinges are hand made by me and are 5/8" sq and set in flush with the hand shaped box surface. Pivot rod is .047 piano wire. Box made with maple, with dyed and treated panel.

Not easy to make.. Have not been able to duplicate it a after a couple times trying.

Thanks for looking.

That is one fine piece of work. Fine in both senses.

Nice box Dan. Hinges look perfect too. Anything that small is hard to work on let alone try to duplicate it. Good luck on that one.

Daniel. Amazing detail on such a tiny box. You must have a microscope on your bench. Great job!

Thanks AJ, no microscope yet, but my eyes aren't getting any better, it's a race as to which body part goes first, or next. lol

Very nice work, from the wonderful wood choice to those choice hinges. That little box has it all.

Thanks for posting, and congrats on your 3.

Don't give up, sometimes the "really special" happens when you keep trying.

Beautiful project…on great projects I always want to see more details like how you made the hinges.

Such a cute little box. Looks like it would be fun to try out.
Haven't seen many wooden hinges on projects but I like this one as it's recessed into the box instead of bulging out.
Great work.
