My wife runs our local VITA Free Tax Service and I wanted to give her something for her Tax Site. Thanks to “You Tube’s Make Something” for the inspiration. I changed it up a little and I think it came out really nice. The wood is red oak and sanded plywood scraps, finish is Mission oak poly stain and a few coats of wipe on poly. The drawer pulls are Magnolia with no stain and straight poly. I flocked the interior surfaces as well as the candy dish and business card holder. I know I’m not supposed to point out flaws, but I figure it’s worth discussing. The “candy Dish” portion was supposed to be a pencil holder, however I didn’t take into account the travel on my benchtop drill press and couldn’t get it deep enough. I guess I could have used longer drill bits, only I didn’t like the idea of drilling then chiseling out the waste and then trying to smooth out that deep of an opening. The other issue I didn’t see until every thing was cut. I think I should have put the deeper drawer on the bottom, just for balance sake. Overall though, I’m really happy with it. Hope you like it.

Great looking box. The stain and finish did a good job.
