I have now completed my third rocking horse. This one, made of maple and purple heart, was made for granddaughter, Addelyn, son David’s first baby. It joins the walnut and maple one made for grandson Ian and the maple and cherry one made for granddaughter Maia.

A very pretty rocking horse.
I like the removal? step as a very well thought out feature.
Three done ??? to go!
Start of an addiction. Making rocking horses is a fun thing to do. I have rocked on all I have made; 60+ now do not even know how many. I have been making them for 30+ years too. Every one still seems to get it’s own personality too. I do not think any 2 were exact clones either. Some were sold, many given away to family and friends too.
First one I made is still in occasional use by G-Grandkids.

Really beautiful rocking horse! Lucky Granddaughter. I’m sure all of the rocking horses you’ve made will become heirlooms – they certainly should be. I love the purple heart and maple combination.

Well done, he will treasure that. I still have the one my dad made me when I was a little one. Lots of nieces, nephews, their kids, my kids, my grandkids, cousins have ridden that steed off into the sunset!
