Just playing around with some new wall art. Cypress and Wenge. It can hang either horizontally or vertically.

I like the effect, but Please, Please be careful. I read this week another woodworker that died using this process.

Very nice artwork. After twisting my head to look at this from different angles I think it should hang vertically with that knot in the lower right corner – that will make the wood grain look like a mountain with trees growing on it like in those old Chinese Silk Scroll paintings. Although with the way you have it in your photos it looks like the sun shining through a tangle of brambles.

Thanks for posting and I agree with Hawaiilad – please be careful.

Looks great; I’ll echo Larry’s comment: be careful—a couple of WW’s electrocuted themselves doing fractal art burning.

Thanks…
I know that people have electrocuted themselves trying this and I use extreme caution since I have also been working with electricity for many years…and am aware of its dangers. I have entirely too much fun creating and don’t want to do anything to put an end to it.
leafhearder… I agree…I viewed this and the other pieces i have done from every possible side and made the decision that it is an easy option to make it so it can hang from any which way. I use sawtooth hangers on it and even though I just place one on the back…I drilled holes on all four sides so anyone can just relocate the hanger to the desired location..
