Pointing Arrows-wall art

My sis-in law found these on face book and asked me to make her a set. She’s into a lot of that southwestern theme and said these would be nice to have with her collection. The arrow point and feathered end are made of pine that was easy to shape on a scroll saw. I kept bumping them on a belt sander to get a final shape. There was very little sanding involved since she was looking for a rustic look. The arrow point looks like a piece of carved stone. She wanted them painted white with a darker board background. I took some old chestnut and torched them enough to give it an older look. (pic 5) Finished with Danish oil and buffed and waxed.

From what I read, an arrow or arrows pointing in different directions has different meanings. In this case she wants them to point up and down which represents conflict or war. I don’t think she knows that but just likes the way they look. I sent her a picture and she loves them. They will be picked up next week.
Thanks for looking.

Beautiful Dave! Makes me want to drive to Texas and eat a bowl of red.

Thanks Ivan. I was happy the way the stone look turned out.

Thanks Hoss.

Thanks Rick.

Jerry, you enjoy your bowl of red. I would join you but my body just doesn’t take it anymore. LOL.

Thanks Tooch. I liked the way they looked too and I’m thinking of making another set.

Thanks Charlie. She loves them and only saw the picture. Haha

Dave, I’m with you. I thought it meant someone who can not make up their mind which direction to go.

John, as I looked it up, it shows the native Americans have a lot of spiritual meanings for these depending on the direction or orientation they are. I learned something new.

I like that they are your own design, are very well done, and artistic at the same time.

Thanks Tony. I had more fun on this one than a lot others. Maybe since it was so different? I just didn’t enjoy the painting.
