I built this for my granddaughter for Christmas she’s 15mo old. She loved it! The plans where in the October issue of Woodsmith. I used walnut for the horse and quarter-sawn white oak for the base. This was only my second piece of furniture, the first was a cradle. other than that I’ve only made pens and end grain cutting boards. But after this my wife is making request real furniture pieces. We’ll see.

That’s one nice rocking horse you’ve made there!!!
I haven’t ever noticed this style rocker before. Very nice!

Great rocking horse.
Building furniture is fun; you’ll like it too.

That is a beauty!
I too have never seen this configuration before. Curious how it works.

Thanks for the comments the horse pivots on the 7/16 rod, it moves like a glider rocker. I had never seen this design either. Big shout out to Woodsmith Magazine. I love how it turned out.
Have your say...
