Walnut and Cherry Watch Box

My first completed box. This is meant for holding four watches. The pillows for the watches have yet to arrive in the mail but the box itself is complete.

The exterior is a single price of walnut. The grain is continuous across the sides and the lid. The interior cherry. I gave the entire box a natural oil finish and used a high gloss varathane on the exterior walnut.

As it is my first box there are a few issues. I had some problems getting f a perfect clear coat on the exterior which is only noticable if you look quite close. The lid, which fit perfectly before the hinges were installed needed a lot of sanding to be flush after the hinges were installed and still isn’t as nice as it was before the hinges.

Overall though I’m pretty happy with the project. Hope you guys like it.

Your first box? Nicely done. Nice choice of wood. The project will be sturdy and is sure to be enjoyed for many, many years. Congratulations!!!

Nice job on your box. You must love woodworking and watches as much as I do!
