I had some small walnut logs that i thought would make a nice bowl. I think it came out nice for a quick gift.

Anyone have suggestions on how to effectively sand the live edge portion of the face. Hand sanding really just caused vibrations on the lathe. Had to turn it off and use elbow grease.

Good job on the Walnut bowl! I don’t remember sanding the live edges of bowls.

I should clarify. I mean the top edge is tall in two parts and short in two parts. I find holding sandpaper in my hand difficult as it hops from being supported underneath to unsupported. The face btw, not the edge.

Just about impossible on the lathe, and too easy to get those fingers hurt. Dremel, Foredom or something else like that. The bowl came out nice!

Have your say...
