Haven’t posted for a while so thought I would show you these two that I finished in the last week.
The Jarrah bowl is 12×4 inches and is the first time I found this type of Jarrah. Apparently the “Black Fleck” forms something like spalting but don’t quote me on that. Photo 2 is the proper colour.
The Olive Vase is obviously from a crotch piece, and measures 11 1/2 inches tall and the wings span 8 1/2 in.
This one took a long time to finish, especially the internal sanding.
Hope you like them and thanks for looking.
C & C welcome.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all.
Bob.

Beautiful work Bob. I especially like your approach on the winged vase. That is awesome. I’m going to give that a try next. I can imagine the sanding time involved.

The bowl:
Interesting black fleck, have never noticed it before and especially as obvious as that in your bowl
Mind you managing to get my hands on a piece of Jarrah that big would require me the trade in my wheel barrow as well as the load of loot it was carrying!
No doubt one of the best Aust timbers for polishing thats for sure.
The Vase:
I am no turner by any means … but , apart from looking great its also looks to be a bit of worry to turn as well
Merry Christmas.

Those are two very nice projects Bob, good job keeping your fingers clear on the vase.

“Hope you like it,” says the Honorable Bob. I hope he knows how phenomenal they are.
I’m speechless, Bob. Me. Speechless. I have no words. Is this what happens when you make yourownbadself scarce for six months?
He hopes we like it. Get a load of this guy.
