Brick Pattern Cutting Board. A few months ago, son #2 mentioned that they could use a nice cutting board. Tucking away that information in the potential Christmas gift file, I started paying attention to other guys’ boards on LJ.
I had a nice piece of 5/4 walnut with some problem areas, but lots of useable ones, too. I drew up a plan for a brick pattern that would reflect the backsplash tiles in their kitchen…..and here it is.
The board is 5/4 by 10 by 16…..walnut ”bricks” with oak ”mortar”. The ends are gently curved to soften the look. The board is sanded to 320 and finished with multiple coats of mineral oil…...every day for a week, every week for a month…..and now it is up to them.
