Hello folks,

Back in 2015 during my vacation, I started to build a log cabin using fallen trees at Ladoga Lake. So, I decided to reclaim those extra-thick logs for my cabin’s construction.
I am a practicing lawyer based in St.Petersburg, Russia and can work on this colonization project only during my summer vacation, which is about a month a year. This is why my log cabin is still not quite finished, and I have a lot of interesting challenges ahead of me.

I chose a round notch (also knows as a saddle cope) to join logs in my cabin.

Here is the second episode on its construction (4 min): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cot3y87cvvk&lc=z22xyhhqfyqcsdgnnacdp433mw424rh2kjrykozcxslw03c010c.1544888394368333

Thank you,

Max

Mark, thank you very much for your kind words. I have a few more episodes on this log cabin coming soon (twice a month)...

Your log cabin project reminds me of Dick Proenneke, who lived alone for nearly thirty years in the mountains of Alaska in a log cabin that he built himself. Check him out on YouTube. Very cool labor of love that you are working on – it must be very gratifying.

Max, this is awesome! Nice job on this. You’ll have to post some pictures of the inside as you’re finishing it up. I would love to see the finished project. Thanks for sharing this.
