This is beautiful. 3rd attempt? This is way more complicated than most Cutting Boards and it is lovely. I make these all of the time. Make sure that you make them small enough to still fit through your planer; that way after a year of use or so you can refresh the surface and remove stains and cuts. I have one that is getting pretty thin, but then it is from 1990. I love making them cause they use scrap wood and are a relaxing piece to do. Enjoy making them sir. I made 2 for friends for Thanks Giving this year and they ran them through the dish washer and pretty much ruined them… So back through the Planer they went. Not perfect but nice again. Explained that these must be hand washed please… Then I heard in a joking manner maybe they should take them to the Dry Cleaners… I made them give me another glass of wine…

Is it really cherry? Looks like Sapele.

The board is fantastic looking, great job! And solid advice above with the planer width, sure makes sprucing it up in a few years an easy task.

Thanks for the kind words. I love making them it’s just hard due to my location to source hardwoods.

Looks great. I think your cherry is actually mahogany or a sapele though.

Cool woods, but I was thinking the same thing…that doesn’t look like cherry to me! I use a lot of cherry.
