This ladder shelf has live edge walnut shelves in a cherry frame. Pretty simple project – the only complex part is setting up the correct angles for the shelves. I used a shop made jig to rout the dadoes for the shelves.

Looks great, I made a ladder of similar construction a while ago. Did you do anything to the lower shelves to allow a heavy book load without potentially splitting the shelves along the grain?

Frankly, I never gave the issue of splitting along the grain any thought at all. This was intended more as a display shelf than a book shelf, so I think it’ll be OK.
