I had lots of 3 5/8 wide unfinished mahogany flooring so I decided to make some shelves for the corner above and behind my TV.

Glued two boards together and cut off the tongue and grooves to get 7 inch wide boards. I then cut them into 7×7 squares and cut a small chamfer on one edge.

Finished with 2 coats of Watco Danish Oil (Clear) and then two coats of Varathane Oil-Based polyurethane.

Yes, Titebond II glue plus a few brad nails to hold it in place while I screwed in the pocket hole screws – so all joints have the full treatment !

I looked at this the other day and dismissed it as – I don’t know.
THEN I really looked at it and it strikes a cord. There’s several things going on – salvage (repurpose) function, design and creativity.
GOOD ON YOU !! keep it up
