Project Information
So I wanted to make something different this time and came out with this kind of design. I'm satisfied with design and how board looks but as a final result I see all mistakes I had made on it. First time I tried something like this so it is nice experience for future projects.
This is a gift for my friend who have her own small catering business - https://www.facebook.com/konceptketering/?jazoest=26510012269114120679990557510981719050767297867851122685011310610111910110511210110912295889871857211183114105103586510012084867275505349109748712180119111103741001021157688117103956645988410854508788788810576110737186115119 - so I tried to surprise her with something useful for her kitchen and promoting her business.
Board is made of walnut, cherry, maple and padauk, finished with mineral oil. Because of it's shape I made enough space under board for both hands so it could be easy to hold it and work with it.
After finishing I realized that this wasn't probably best way how to make this kind of board. If I make something similar to this I will definitely make inlays with router instead of table saw. That's maybe biggest mistake here but it was to late to do anything after starting project on table saw ( Although with proper blade and better table saw I think it could be done on this way without bigger problems ) . One picture is telling thousands words so sharp eye can catch mistake easily.
Feel free to comment,cheers!
Here are some extra pictures of process…
