Each year members on the Segmented Turners Forum have the opportunity to build a project for a Holiday Swap. My entry is a vessel with an open segmented feature ring of a Christmas Tree and Star. The feature Ring has 60 segments per row, 9 rows high. the body of the vessel has 16 segments per row with 12 rows including the bottom foot, two accent rings and the top. All total, the vessel has 732 segments. Vessel is made of Curley Maple, wenge, bloodwood, Cherry, yellow heart, walnut and ebony. Hope the recipient likes it.

Oh yeah, I’m sure your recipient would like it. I sure would. That is a gorgeous piece of art. How did you get the openings consistent?

We have a Spring LJ Surprise Swap too if you are interested. We would love to have you participate. Yes – I’m shamelessly advertising for it since I’m the moderator.

Earl I used an indexing plate with precisely spaced indexing holes which allows you to advance the jig a specified amount to glue each segment. You can find these on the internet. Try Tom Lohman’s web page

Incredible work…beautiful indeed. I like the combination of full wood walls and part with holes.
