I had this amazing piece of quilted maple and I wanted to make a jewelry box out of it. One of my goals was to make so that the grain followed in all directions. Since this was a gift for my niece I also wanted to personalize it, so I added the “S” shaped divider.

Oh, by the way; I bought the wood about 6 years ago and it was intended to be her HS graduation gift. Well, she graduated college in June, but it wasn’t ready then and I gave it to her just last month.

Nice work, and I would call it a bandsaw box being you used a bandsaw to cut most of it out.

I don’t care what you or anyone else might call it, I’ll just call it beautiful. I worked in a fine jewelry store for 10 years and we would have loved to have something like that to sell to our customers. Thanks for sharing.

That is a beautiful piece of wood and you certainly did it justice making that unique and beautiful box. Well done!

The box is absolutely gorgeous! The combination of the design, workmanship, and wood choice could not be more perfect! Your niece is really blessed.

What size is the box?

Awesome piece of lumber, used to it’s outer limit. I call it a bandsaw box, but it’s not that other bandsaw box, so yeah maybe it is a hybrid. I know I like it, and this post is just one of those that automatically goes to favorites. The piece is wonderful, but what really made this shine was that great video.

Thanks for posting.
