Hey Lumberjocks,
This is a Christmas gift for a friend. The heads of the cheese tools are a Rockler product and the handles for the tools are Mango, one of my favorite woods to work with; easy turning and beautiful grain and features. The box is mostly Walnut – sides and bottom. The sliding top is an unknown hardwood – I am open to thoughts on this one. The top was an offcut given to me years ago. The joints came out fairly tight thanks to my picture frame jig and headless pin nailer. The two joints where the box lid slides are not as tight – but they open when the box is open. I went through the sanding process up to 320 and decided for a more subtle look and just used Linseed Oil as a finish. I did put some Poly on the tool handles.
Thanks for checking out the Cheese Tools.
