Vase - Yew Log?

I had this log for a few years now and I knew it would have some cool color. I picked it out of a huge brush pile that was going-to be burned. So when we needed a vase to hold some wood flowers my daughter gave us I decided this would be perfect. I believe it is some type of wood from a Yew tree or bush. The wood was very hard and turned like a dream on the lathe. About 8’’ tall x 3’’ dia. Finished with Danish oil.
This will make a nice center piece for our table. I was worried that the left side of the log where there was a crotch (pic5) would be unstable but instead worked out great for me. My wife loves it and that’s all that matters.

Wow! Nice work one the vase Dave! Old logs are like gift wrapped packages that only reveal their gift after you dig into it. Your gift was a great one!

That’s just an amazing thing Dave, great job on the turning and what a find with that log!

Thanks Stelios.

Tony, ever since I purchased a lathe I found out all that beauty that’s inside all those logs we burn and discard. They sure make nice projects.
