This jig will mount in an end vise or moxon vise, or the inexpensive clamp on vises shown here. The router plate is 1/4” MDF, and the rails are 3/4” ply. There are two 3/8” dowels stubbed out of the bottom of the plate which follow the grooves routed in the guide rails – one on each side of the work piece. The work piece is clamped between the guide rails, and the tops of all three pieces made tight and even. The router has a plunge base, but the fixed base is more compact, and easier to work with as the router is held steady by the guide pins. The test pieces were “slapped” together in 10 minutes. The tenon cheeks were cut out on the on the table saw with a miter gauge, and all fit up tight and square.

I just purchased the Grizzly T27139 trim router for this project and plan on posting a REVIEW soon.

Really interesting. I haven’t seen a design like this for mortises yet. Great job!
