Woodworking, in any shape or form, creates scrap. Since I throw nothing away, I have containers full of cutoffs that, every so often, I spread out, dig through and match up to create something that be displayed – something I call “art”. I had no goal when I glued the first square down, but having a limited knowledge of geometry, I knew if you did “this” then “this” would result – liked it, kept going. Turned out way better than expected.

Woods: Reclaimed pallet wood (squares), Padauk, Walnut, Larch, Rose Morado, Butternut, Fiddlewood, Poplar, Sycamore, Purpleheart, Eucalyptus, White Oak, Wenge, Yellowheart and Red Palm.

Backer: Green enameled hardboard.

Frame: Black enameled Pine.

I like the scrap projects. This one looks great, nice job!

You have a definite geometry eye. And yes, it is art.

not scrap anymore. I’m sure 90% of us deal with the scrap hoarding addiction. The proverbial “One day I’ll use that” actually worked for you!! Beautiful
