My boss asked me if I could make his daughter a small plaque with her dogs name on it. I found a “Pomsky” svg file and the dogs paw and heart in a Google search and this is how it came out. The letters, paw and heart are a 90 degree v-bit and the pocket of the dogs bust is cut with a .03125” flat end mill. My first time using a bit this small and I was very nervous about the feed rate snapping the bit.

I know, its just MDF but I just got my machine up and running 2 weekends ago and I am still learning. My boss and I are happy with the end results and I hope his daughter likes it also.

Nice. What feed rate, cutting depth and router speed did you use with the small bit?

Looking good, and your boss is happy, can’t beat that!
And, there is nothing wrong with MDF except for the dust while cutting!
I made several house number plaques out of MDF and, with some paint or coats of poly, they actually are better than solid wood when exposed to the elements.

So, my bosses daughter took this plaque to school with her yesterday and he told me this morning that 15-20 of her friends want one for their pets. I am making up a sheet with the persons name and what kind of dog or cat they have to put on the plaque.

Well Grant, like the saying goes, “no bad deed goes unpunished” or is that good deed in your case?
Looks like you will be busy for a while.
