I have not made a box in awhile and thought I’d try again. The first is walnut cluster veneer with cherry blossom marquetry and gray velvet interior. The second one I had the veneer so long I’ve forgot the name of the veneer, however it has a flower marquetry and red velvet interior with brass buttons. I usually finish with shellac but this time I tried lacquer.

So nice to see you doing marquetry again. Really a lot of soul in both of these.
Very well done. I hate to guess on species from photos but Koa maybe?

Your veneered designs are stunning on these beautiful boxes Tom!! I would hazard a guess that the other veneer is a very fine piece of Zebra wood.
